Joomla is a free and open source content management system (CMS) for publishing content on the World Wide Web and intranets. It comprises a model–view–controller (MVC) Web application framework that can also be used independently. Joomla is written in PHP, uses object-oriented programming (OOP) techniques and software design patterns, stores data in a MySQL database, and includes features such as page caching, RSS feeds, printable versions of pages, news flashes, blogs, polls, search, and support for language internationalization.

If you're a blogger using Joomla, one of the main things you should be concerned about is reducing your time spent on each post. At least the time it takes to publish small bits of information with your own thoughts mixed in. For this purpose, a blog editor like ScribeFire, which installs as an extension to Firefox, or the built-in blog editor of the Flock browser, may be of great help. However, to get it up and running with Joomla you need to install a few things and do some configuration changes. I'll show you exactly how.

In pursuit of the optimal user experience, I usually want to control each aspect of a view. And as there is much more to a good site than a nice colour palette or a funky header image, my interference with an extension’s existing layout goes beyond the scope of CSS alterations. I like to meddle with my site’s views by customizing any output that is generated and that includes Joomla!’s error page.
